And now for something completely different...

I'm not typically a creative party person at all, but today I had a lot of fun creating something that was a little out of the ordinary...

One of my dearest friends, a woman I met on a long distance relationship forum, is getting married next month.  She and I were actually able to meet up in person last November, which was amazing.  You spend so much time online with certain people, and finally being with them face to face is much like a reunion with an old childhood friend.  So when she announced the wedding, and since we have our little online group who wouldn't be able to attend, I thought why not try and do something that we could all get involved with.  And so, the online bridal shower - games only edition - was born.

I started out with a pretty basic "Who Knows the Bride Best", which included the following questions:

What is the wedding date?
How did she meet the groom?
Where did they go on their first date?
What does she think is his best feature?
Who does she think is the sexiest man (other than her husband to be)?
What are the wedding colors?
What is the bride’s favorite hobby?
What is the bride’s favorite song?
What is the bride’s favorite drink?

Then I added a Romantic Movie Quotes Game:
1. “You had me at hello”
2. "I thought I understood it, that I could grasp it. But I didn't, not really. Only the smudgeness of it; the pink-slippered, all-containered, semi-precious eagerness of it. I didn't realize it would sometimes be more than whole, that the wholeness was a rather luxurious idea. Because it's the halves that halve you in half. I didn't know, don't know, about the in-between bits; the gory bits of you, and the gory bits of me. "
3. "Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while."

4. "I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it."
5. "You should be kissed, and often, and by someone who knows how."
6. "So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day…"
7. "I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."
8. “I guarantee that we’ll have tough times. And I guarantee that at some point, one or both of us will want to get out. But I also guarantee that if I don’t ask you to be mine, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life. Because I know in my heart you are the only one for me.”
9. “I love you.” “ I know”
10. "I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special."
11. "I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not, to agree to disagree on red velvet cake, and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home. "
12. "The only way you’re content in life is if you marry your best friend "

I added in a dress up game so that we could indulge our inner 12 year old girls and asked that people post their creations so the bride could vote on her favorite using this bridal dress up game.
My creation
Using the same website, I also added in a wedding cake design game.
Isn't it pretty???
But the most fun that I think we had was the online picture hunt.  I made a list of items that I wanted people to post pictures of, using some personal touches.  The couple were originally long distance and he is from Texas so I had to add in some cowboy requests!

1.  The Bride's Home State
2.  The Groom's Home State
3.  Some shirtless cowboys
4.  A black wedding cake (her colors are black and silver)
5.  A western themed cake topper
6.  A Love knows no distance bracelet (which can be purchased at the fabulous Loving From A Distance website (where I met my girls!)
7.  Where the bride works
8.  A wild and crazy bachelorette party
9.  An item from a long distance themed wedding
10. A picture of the state where the guest was playing from (We had NY, Texas, Alabama, New Hampshire and Florida representing!)
11. Something that would typically be on a wedding registry
12. Western Themed Invitations
13. Something you might wear on your honeymoon
14. Wedding getaway vehicle
15. Your dream honeymoon destination

While I realize our group is probably a little more unusual than most since it's comprised of people in long distance relationships (or former LDR's!), I think it could work for any group of friends or family that might be living quite a distance from each other and who might not otherwise be able to attend a bridal shower.  Even greater bonus? I didn't have to make sure the house was spotless or buy any food or drinks for the guests!!!
