Day 10- Songs I listen to when happy, sad, bored, hyped, mad

Music...one of the great loves of my life...

I listen to pretty much everything under the sun. I have my favorites (90's alternative music is by far the best...) and even have songs I love in the genres I don't typically listen to (don't hate on my fabulous Garth Brooks collection). I'm picking three songs for each of these categories and mostly ones that I've listened to recently, hoping to show you my range in musical tastes and limiting myself because in all honesty, I could list way, way more and nobody wants to read all of that!

When I am really, really happy these are some of my favorite songs to listen to:
"Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars: How can you not be happy listening to some one singing these words to you...'When I see your face, There's not a thing that I would change,Cause you're amazing Just the way you are, And when you smile,The whole world stops and stares for awhile Cause girl you're amazing, Just the way you are'

"Starlight" by Muse: 'My life, you electrify my life. Let's conspire to re-ignite all the souls that would die just to feel alive'...makes me dance in my chair...

"Ice Cream" by Sarah McLachlan: 'Your love is better than ice cream, better than anything else that I've tried' - a sweet song

And now for the sad songs...
"Black, Blue" by The Avett Brothers: When I first heard this song, it was in the middle of my worst times and I would listen to it over and over again. 'But it's getting harder to see, and the time between daylight seems longer to me, and the person I am, and the person I'll be refuse to meet'

"Ex Factor" by Lauryn Hill: The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill still one of the best pieces of music I've ever listened to...'Tell me who I have to be to get some reciprocity, cause no one loves you more than me, and no one ever will'

"Broken Hearts and Auto Parts" by Kevn Kinney: 'Aint been the best of years so far, Lost my girl, I lost my car, everything else so in betweenseems so incomplete' - I heard this on Valentine's Day during a radio show that was only playing broken heart songs in protest of the day and I immediately tracked it down.

When I am bored, I'll throw on some stuff to make me want to move...
"Tu Sonrisa" by Elvis Crespo. My 21st birthday, Mari got s tickets to see him perform at House of Blues. Pretty sure I was the only white girl in House of Blues not working at the concert but I didn't care! "Algo en tu cara me facina, algo in tu cara me da vida...sera tu sonrisa, sera tu sonrisa..." or translated "Something in your face fascinates me, Something in your face gives me life - is it your smile? Is it your smile?" A little merengue and you have to swish your hips a bit.

"Ain't Going Down (Til the Sun Comes Up)" by Garth Brooks: 'Ain't going down 'til the sun comes up, Ain't givin' in 'til they get enough, Going 'round the world in a pickup truck, Ain't goin' down 'til the sun comes up'. When I was in high school, I worked at an ice cream store with a bunch of country music fans, who forced me to listen to mid-90's country...Couldn't help but want to dance whenever this song was on.

"Extraordinary" by Liz Phair: I know lots of people were not happy when Liz when from alt angry girl to sorta pop star, but her lyrics still carried a slight edge. Love this song...'I am extraordinary if you'd ever get to know me, I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary average everyday sane psycho supergoddess"

After the bored songs hype me up, I need to keep on dancing...
"What Are You Waiting For" by Gwen Stefani...'Look at your watch now, You're still a super hot female, You got your million-dollar contract And they're all waiting for your hot track'

"Milkshake" by Kelis: I know it got played out a bit but come on, you know you still love it...'My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, And their like, It's better than yours, Damn right it's better than yours, I can teach you, But I have to charge'

"Hey Ya" by Outkast: 'Lend me some sugar, I am your neighbor' This song came out around the time my son was born. I was recuperating from a c-section and I started dancing to this song. I can't not.

Finally after all this happiness and grooving along, when I need to listen to angry songs, here's my top choices.
"Bullet With Butterfly Wings" by Smashing Pumpkins: I had a crush on Billy Corgan's bald head in high school...'Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage'

"Song For the Dumped" by Ben Folds Five: 'Give me money back, give me my money back you bitch...and don't forget to give me back my black t-shirt'...Piano never sounded so angry...

"You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morrisette: How can you not talk about anger and leave this song out? Jagged Little Pill was my anthem my senior year of high school, plus angry at Uncle Joey? Bonus! 'Cause the love that you gave that we made aasn't able to make it enough for you to be open wide, No, And every time you speak her name does she know how you told me you'd hold me until you died, Till you died, but you're still alive.'

Really, I could list a ton more but there's too many out there - so enjoy my sampling of mood altering music...
