Two friends, Juleda and Zuby, in a small town in Kentucky were talking. Zuby's son was in the Air Force, and she was worried he would re-enlist, which she did not want him to do. So she asked Juleda if she could get her 16 year old daughter to write to her 21 year old son and ask him to come back to Kentucky. Juleda's daughter Zella protested, but did what her mother asked. She wrote "Dear Russ, You should come back to Kentucky. You don't know what you're missing". This is the face I want to remember for the rest of my life. I see my mother in this face. I see all of my aunts and my cousins in this face. I see a huge family that all came to be because she was in this world. I made a hard decision - one that I know not everyone will agree with. I'm not going to her funeral. Because this is the face I want to remember. You know, days go by and I keep remembering so many little things that I had forgotten. Triple decker sandwiches. The boy's father is no longer involved in our lives. And while there are always two sides to every story, if you know me, I think you will know which side is the more accurate version. He once had a good, caring father, and I think that is what hurts me the most sometimes. We used to celebrate this day with daddy. When my son was a baby, you would not have found a more caring and devoted father. But choices were made and things that can't be undone were done, so we don't do the same things. So for several years now, I've been both mom and dad for my son. I used to be angry about this. I used to cry and scream and tell the world it wasn't fair. In a perfect world, I should not have to explain either of these movies to anyone. Because in said perfect world, these would be mandatory viewing. And don't ever ask me to choose between these two movies, as I would never, ever be able to pick just one as my favorite movie of all time. Short and sweet this morning...a nd these are in no particular order... Ren and Stimpy - As a 90's girl, I adore these two characters. And I am not splitting them up for to do so would be a travesty! Marvin the Martian - I always adored this character but when Geoff would do the voice impersonations for me years ago, I loved it even more. And this one is a duh if you know me at all! Strawberry Shortcake! I used to collect vintage Strawberry Shortcake stuff but all was lost in the non-divorce :(
